How to Overcome Despair and Gain Motivation to Move Forward

There are certain periods in our lives when everything seems to be falling apart, no matter how hard we try. Sometimes it seems that there is no light at the end of the tunnel and despair starts creeping in. However, no matter how hard the situation gets, giving up is not an option. We need to find a way to fight back.

We can all get our lives back on track by following these simple steps:

  1. Break the Negative Thinking Pattern 

Take some time out from if you want to break the negative cycle. We all sometimes need to separate ourselves from the current situation in order to  get our bearings. Whenever you feel emotionally overloaded, seek a peaceful spot where you may spend your free time alone. If you have children, do this when they are asleep or otherwise engaged in an activity that is safe for them to participate in alone.

Make a pact with yourself that you’ll think about your troubles later if you so choose. You have earned this reward. It’s vital to your well-being. Think of taking a break as a self-gift.

Commit yourself to always taking a break whenever you feel anxious and not making any hasty decisions without weighing up all the pros and cons.  

  1. Let Go of Your Thoughts

Don’t try to address problems when you’re relaxing. Consider giving yourself the gift of relaxation, restoration, and a steady supply of uplifting ideas and experiences.

Do things that calm you down, like walking in the countryside. 

Try sitting in a comfortable position, close your eyes and be aware of your breathing. Watch your thoughts come and go and gently come back to your breathing. Doing this for just ten minutes a day came really make a difference. Silence is the best way to clear our thoughts and learn to live in the present moment. So we are not worried about past regrets of future fears.

Catch up on your sleep loss and let your body heal itself.

  1. Develop a Clear Strategy and Take Action

Develop a problem-solving strategy. When you’ve come up with ideas, either on your own or with the help of another person or group, make a list of the things you need to do before you begin. Plan B is always an option if Plan A isn’t successful. Think of your ideas as exploratory.

Putting your ideas into action is essential once you have worked out a strategy. After all, you’re unlikely to find comfort in your circumstances if you’re just sitting around, fretting.
